The Canid Specialist Group (CSG) is a global network of over 100 experts across 34 countries, working under the IUCN Species Survival Commission. We connect science, policy, and field action to strengthen the conservation of all wild canids, from widespread species to the most threatened.
About us
Vision
A world where healthy ecosystems support thriving wild canid populations coexisting with people, supported by evidence-based decision-making, effective collaboration, and long-term capacity building.
Mission
To compile, synthesise, and share the best available knowledge on canid status, threats, and conservation needs, and to translate that knowledge into practical guidance for governments, NGOs, intergovernmental bodies, and field programmes.
