Dhole Working Group

The group gathers and shares information on dhole ecology, biology, distribution and conservation status to define research priorities, coordinate conservation work and disseminate findings. Its work responds to habitat and prey loss, conflict, domestic dogs, disease and major knowledge gaps across Asia.

Coordinator: Nucharin Songsasen

Objectives

Generate and maintain information on dhole distribution and connectivity to support viable populations.

Develop context-specific methods for estimating abundance and understanding demographic and ecological requirements.

Create and regularly update a comprehensive list of dhole publications.

Develop standard protocols for health sampling, sample storage and access to appropriate diagnostics.

Evaluate human-dhole conflict and the effectiveness of mitigation methods across the species’ range.
